Puppy Class Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the age limit for your Puppy Class?
Our puppy class is specifically designed for puppies under 6 months of age (26 weeks). If your puppy is older than 6 months you should consider signing up for one of our family dog classes.
My puppy is 23 weeks old. What class should I sign up for?
You have three options: (1) Sign up for 6 weeks of puppy 3 (and come multiple times per week to use 6 classes before your puppy is 26 weeks old), (2) pay for individual puppy classes a la carte ($20/class), or (3) sign up for one of our family dog classes.
What should I expect my first time?
The first week of class is often overwhelming for puppies and owners. Because it is a rolling enrollment class, other puppies (and owners) are more used to the routine. Our volunteer puppy assistants will check your vaccine records and help you get settled as class is starting. After the first week or so, most puppies settle in and have a great time in class!
What do I need to bring to class?
Click here. Please remember to bring your vaccination records from your vet also.
How long is each class?
Each session is 50 minutes long.
My puppy will turn 15 weeks in the middle of our sessions, do I sign up for Puppy 1 or Puppy 2?
Start your puppy in the age appropriate class, as they age simply switch times/days. Your class credits pay for total puppy classes — they are not for a specific level. You can use them anytime until your puppy is 6 months old (26 weeks).
What is the 1-2-3 Complete option?
Our 1-2-3 Complete package offers the opportunity to attend as many age-appropriate puppy classes as you like until your puppy is 6 months old (26 weeks). So you could come to Puppy 2 with your 17-week-old puppy Wednesdays at 1pm, Wednesdays at 7pm, Thursdays at 8pm, and Saturdays at 10am. This option is particularly good for individuals with the scheduling flexibility to come multiple times per week. Many puppies benefit from coming to class multiple times per week.
Can I come on different days?
Yes! You can come to any age-appropriate class (e.g., if your puppy is 13 weeks old, you can come to any Puppy 1 class — Wednesday at 1pm, Thursday at 7pm, or Saturday at 9am).
I usually come to class on Saturdays but have a conflict this week. How do I make up the class?
Come to another age-appropriate class during the week! Our week starts on Wednesday and ends on Saturday, so if you know you’ll be gone Saturday, it is best to come Wednesday or Thursday before your absence to get the content you would have gotten on Saturday. Likewise, if you miss class on Wednesday or Thursday, come the following Saturday to get the missing content.
I paid for 6 weeks of puppy 2 but was only able to attend 3 weeks of class. Now my puppy is 22 weeks old. What do I do?
Come to Puppy 3! Your class credits pay for total puppy classes — they are not for a specific level. You can use them anytime until your puppy is 6 months old (26 weeks).
I paid for 10 classes but then was only able to come 7 times. Now my puppy is 7 months old. Can I use my remaining 3 classes in family dog?
No, puppy classes must be used for puppy class before the puppy is 6 months old (26 weeks).
I want to start class in 3 weeks, can I register to start then?
Yes. Register for the day you are most likely to first attend. Our automated emails include a start date in your confirmation, but rest assured, we will count your attendance from when you first start coming to class.
What vaccines does my puppy need to start class?
Puppies are welcome to start class one week after receiving their core vaccines. For further information click here.
