Mondio (or World) Ring is a challenging, creative, and functional dog sport played world wide. It is a three-part competition consisting of obedience, jumps, and bitework. Most commonly, the dogs competing in Mondio Ring are Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherds, and German Shepherds.
In America, the United States Mondio Ring Association offers trialing opportunities in just the Obedience portion (and the Obedience and Jumps portions) of the International Program. This gives dogs of ANY breed the exciting opportunity to participate in Mondio Ring training and trialing as an Obedience competitor.
There is nothing quite like Mondio Ring Obedience. If you are interested in dog sport but not familiar with this particular program, we strongly encourage you to learn more about it. This seminar gives you that chance. Each Obedience exercise will be demonstrated and explained. You will learn how to get involved in training and trialing, practice important handling elements, get a basic understanding of the obedience rules, and finally get the judge’s horns, prep & departure lines, and other Mondio quirks explained in a way that makes sense. There will be plenty for auditors to do and learn at this seminar.
Working teams will be individually coached on, and have the opportunity to practice, everything from making the best of open-field time, on-field sequencing and handling tricks, and specific obedience exercises with direction on where to go next to progress in each area.
Come learn what Mondio Ring competitors already know:
Mondio Ring Obedience is the most fun you can have training and trialing with your dog!
Mondio Ring Obedience exercises include:
Heeling (a functional heel that that judges cross-trained heels from other venues in an unbiased manner)
Absence (an out of sight stay with distractions)
Retrieve (bring back a surprise object, could be almost anything)
Food Refusal (don’t eat food that is put in front of you, “leave it”)
Send Away (run out in a straight line and then recall)
Positions (change of positions -sit/down/stand- at a distance, similar to signals exercise but with Mondio flair)
Little Wood (discriminate and retrieve wooden object with handler scent, Levels 2&3 only)
